Does Keswick have a lake?

The closest lake to Keswick is Derwentwater. Derwentwater is situated just 10 minute’s walk from the town centre along well marked footpaths. The lake is approximately 3 miles long and flanked picturesque fells on all sides. It is overlooked by Skiddaw – the fourth highest mountain in England. There are 4 islands within the lake and much of the shoreline is managed by the National Trust. Derwentwater is the widest lake in the Lake District. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and home to a wide variety of wildlife. It is incredibly popular with visitor thanks to the abundance of things to see and do on the Lake. There are 8 landing stages where you can enjoy a scenic boat trip with Keswick Launch Co. From the boat you can enjoy far reaching views and stop at some of the North Lake District’s best loved landmarks, including Lingholm, Ahness Bridge and Lodmore Falls. You could also hire a rowing boat or motor boat so you can explore the lake in your own time.
