How long is the walk around Derwentwater?
The circular walk around Derwentwater is 10 miles long. It mainly consists of flat and easy paths along the lake shore. The route is way-marked making it nice and easy to follow. You’ll pass through a range of scenery, including ancient woodland and heathland. If you’re lucky you might see some wildlife along the way. Pack a picnic and make a day of it. Or, complete the Derwentwater Circular route as a series of shorter walks.
You’ll be treated to stunning views over the lake and hopefully catch a glimpse of a variety of wildlife, flora and fauna. There are a number of landmarks to take in along the route including the Entrust sculpture, Ruskin Memorial, Hundred Year Stone and Chinese Bridge. The recommended starting point is by the lakeshore at Keswick Launch. A map and directions are available to download from the Visit Keswick website.
