Indoor Activities in the Lake District

Indoor Activities in the Lake District

Visiting the Lake District during Winter is a great idea if you want to avoid the crowds. However, you may have to be ready for a back up plan of indoor activities if it rains or snows. To help you come up with ideas for rainy days, or when you simply want to have a relaxing day, we have put together our favourite indoor activities in the Lake District.

Dive into the underwater at the Lakes Aquarium

The Lakes Aquarium is located in the village of Lakeside, only half an hour away from Skelwith Fold.

The Aquarium is a fun way to spend a rainy day indoor with kids. You can admire many animals, from frogs and crabs to sharks, otters and more. What makes this aquarium unique is the interactive fish tanks, where you can observe different species in plenty of details. The staff are incredibly friendly and ready to answer any questions you may have.

Tickets can be purchased on the website.

Spend a day shopping in Coniston

The picturesque village of Coniston offers beautiful views of Coniston Water, as well as many shops.

The village is quaint and small, meaning you will probably won’t find yourself in huge crowds and you can spend as much time as you want browsing around.

The shops vary from outdoor gears to gift shops, making shopping in Coniston a great indoor activity in the Lake District. If all the shopping makes you hungry, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sit down and relax.
