L’Enclume, Cartmel, near Grange-over-Sands
Firmly established on the north west foodie map for nearly 20 years, L’Enclume has now been awarded an incredible 3 Michelin stars. The ever changing and inventive menu is based on seasonal produce and flavours all sourced from the restaurant’s very own 12 acre farm.
The Michelin Guide says:
“Few restaurants represent the region in which they’re located more than L’Enclume and the Lake District. The cooking in this lovely old smithy has never stopped evolving and the energy emanating from the kitchen is as palpable as ever.”
Gilpin Spice, Windermere
Set in within the grounds of a stunning country house, this lovely restaurant located close to Windermere has a modern interior. Diners enjoy the open plan kitchen which allows you to see your food being cooked. Watch on as the head chef, Hrishikesh Desai, masterfully uses Indian and Asian spices combined with the finest local ingredients.
The Michelin Guide says:
“Extensive menus follow the Silk Road from Cumbria to Asia and many dishes are designed for sharing. Enter the colourful rooms via wooden walkways built over stone-filled pools.”

The Old Stamp House Restaurant, Ambleside
The closest Michelin star restaurant to our Lake District holiday park is the Old Stamp House. It’s just a couple of miles from our park. It is a small restaurant split over two rooms. As the name suggests it was formally a postal service building. Interestingly William Wordsworth used to work here as the Distributor of Stamps for Westmorland.
Local Cumbrian dishes are a speciality served here from chef Ryan Blackburn and his brother Craig who looks after the front of house.
The Michelin Guide says:
“It’s owned by the Blackburn brothers… they have a passion for all things regional, which is summed up in the name of their tasting menu: ‘A Journey Around Cumbria’.
The Cottage in the Wood, Braithwaite, Near Keswick
The clue is in the name for this Michelin Star restaurant in The Lake District as it is located high up in the Whinlatter Forest above Keswick.
The Michelin Guide says:
“Top quality ingredients and classic techniques take the lead, and there is a certain sophistication to the well-balanced flavour pairings – and while skilfully making the dishes look eye-catching, he manages to avoid over-elaboration.”
