Kendal Mountain Festival
The Kendal Mountain Festival is one of the world’s leading outdoor and adventure festivals, celebrating the great outdoors through powerful storytelling, film, culture and live experiences.
Over the course of the festival, there are more than 200 ticket events to attend. These include talks, movie screenings, parties, wellness sessions and other outdoor adventure activities. Each event is designed to showcase the beauty on our doorstep and highlight the achievements of adventurers and environmentalists from across the world.
Festival highlights include:
- Leadings speakers – hear from esteemed adventurers, environmentalists and activists as they share first-hand stories of expeditions and more
- Film screenings – enjoy and outstanding progamme of outdoor adventure films, including premiers, short films and feature length documentaries that celebrate exploration, nature and human spirit
- Arts events – experience dance performances, exhibitions and visual arts inspired by mountains and outdoor culture
- Book events – meet celebrated outdoor writers and authors through readings, talks and signings
- Live music and parties – unwind after a day of inspiration with live music, DJ set and social events
- Family friendly events – the festival welcomes all ages with children’s film screenings, author events, creative workshops and hands on activities, making it ideal for families.
- Wellness activities – get involved with yoga sessions, trail running, ultra runs, guided hikes and bide rides. Smaller group experiences offer a chance to explore the surrounding landscape with like-minded people

The Kendal Mountain Festival takes place in various locations throughout Kendal, all within walking distance of each other, making it simple to move between events.
The festival’s central hub, known as Basecamp, is located at Abbot Hall Park, serving as a gathering point for information and socialising.
