Easter Events in the Lake District

Easter Events in the Lake District

We highly recommend attending some of the Easter events taking place across the Lake District this spring. There’s so much to see and do, you’ll be spoilt for choice when looking for things to keep younger members of the family entertained. All are within easy reach of our holiday park in Ambleside.

Burn some calories at BounceFest

Are you kids looking for some high intensity fun? BounceFest in Keswick is the perfect family-friendly Easter Event in the Lake District!

Children will have the chance to enjoy themselves on bouncy castles, obstacle courses, slides and more inflatable fun. The event is catered towards kids of all ages, from toddlers all the way up to 12-year-olds.

BounceFest runs on the 29th and 30th of March 2024 from 9:30am until 5pm.

Keswick is only 40 minutes away from Skelwith Fold, making this lovely town the perfect day-trip destination. If you are keen to explore more of the town, there’s much to do. Visit the Keswick Museum, spend time shopping and enjoy a meal out among the many restaurants to pick from.

Enjoy an Easter Pantomime

The Forum Theatre in Barrow-in-Furness is running a re-tell of Beauty and the Beast. This play features many shiny costumes and will most definitely make you laugh. You don’t want to miss this Easter Pantomime !

The event runs from Friday the 5th of April until the 8th of April 2024. This event is perfect for an unlucky rainy day.

Barrow-in-Furness is just outside the Lake District, and it’s fairly easy to reach from Skelwith Fold. The drive should take around an hour.

Join an Easter Egg Hunt

Put your Easter Bunny Ears on head to an Easter egg hunt during your stay at Skelwith Fold. There are many Easter egg hunts taking place throughout the Lake District this Easter.

One of our favourites is organised by the National Trust and takes place at Wray in Ambleside. This event gives families the opportunity to explore Wray Castle in a fun and exciting way!

There are many activities taking place throughout the day, and once you’re finished, you can collect your prize: a chocolate egg! This trail runs everyday from the 23rd of March until the 31st of March, 2024, 10am until 3:30pm. Tickets are only £3.

This Easter Egg Trail is very close to our caravan park Skelwith Fold, less than 10 minutes away by car.

You can also participate in Easter egg trails at Wordsworth House and Garden, Sizergh Castle and Walby Farm Park in Carlisle.

Explore the World of Beatrix Potter

No Easter holiday in the Lake District is complete without a trip to the World of Beatrix Potter? This museum is very popular among families with young children and is situated just a 15 minute car ride away in Bowness-on-Windermere.

Whilst, no Easter events have been publicised at the current time, there’s always something exciting taking place. Kids will meet their favourite characters from the books, including Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck and can enjoy a tasty snack in the beautiful themed café. There are lots of souvenirs to purchase at the gift shop, so you can remember the visit forever.

Easter Sunday Lunch

Easter is about coming together and spending time with family and friends. Let someone else do the cooking this year and treat your loved ones to tasty Sunday lunch during your stay at Skelwith Fold Caravan Park. Whilst we don’t have a restaurant on park, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants offering Easter lunches nearby. Some of our favourites include:

Inn on the Lake – 3-course lunch with live piano music from Karen West, Ullswater

Inn on the Square – traditional lunch using locally sourced ingredients, Keswick

And more!

There’s always much to do in the Lake District, with numerous events taking place. While some are Easter-specific, there’s plenty of other activities that you can do while visiting the region this Spring. With the weather improving, make your Easter break unforgettable with Mountain Journeys, a group that organises family adventure days including hiking climbing, rock scrambling and abseiling.
