What is Ambleside Sports?

Ambleside Sports is a countryside sports festival that has been held for generations. The event brings together athletes, spectators and visitors for a full day of exciting and unsual sporting dispays you won’t find anywhere else!

What sports can you watch at Ambleside Sports?

A wide range of sporting events will take place over the course of the day, including Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, hound trails, fell races and grass track cycling. These unique events are a real spectacle and are kept alive by the dedication of local families.

Can visitors take part?

Yes, you don’t have to be an expert to take part – many sports have rounds for complete novices to participate on the day. There are even children’s races, so younger members of the family can get involved!

Where is Ambleside Sports held?

Ambleside Sports takes place at Rydal Park on the outskirts of Ambleside, LA22 9PN. Dogs on leads are welcome and there are a selection of local food vendors and a local bar to keep you refueled throughout the day.
