Helvellyn

Helvellyn stands at 3,118 ft and is the third highest peak in England. It is located just north of Ambleside and famed for its steep ridges and glacial coves.

Hiking Helvellyn has grown increasingly popular, with many choosing to visit The Lakes just to conquer this series of fells. The views are simply spectacular, especially at sunrise!

There are numerous routes up the mountain, depending on your experience and level of fitness. It’s really important that you stick to the path and wear appropriate outdoor clothing. An ascent typically takes 6 hours and shouldn’t be underestimated.

If you do decide to take on Helvellyn, spring and summer are most appropriate – it can be treacherous in the colder months with plenty of snow and ice on the ground.
