The Lakeland Motor Museum is a fascinating collection of over 30,000 cars, motorbikes and other automobilia showing the development of road transport over the twentieth century.

Lakeland Motor Museum’s Collections

The museum includes a fascinating display on the record-breaking Campbell family. Famous for the Bluebird cars and power boats which Sir Malcolm and his son Donald Campbell piloted, museum piece highlights include full sized replicas of the 1935 Blue Bird car, 1939 Blue Bird Boat K4 and 1967 jet hydroplane Bluebird K7. It also details the precise timekeeping methods that were used for the record attempts using racing chronograph watches.

Housed in a converted mill in the heart of the Lake District, this magnificent museum is just a few minutes from Lake Windermere. It is much more than just a motor museum, with plenty of local history and period shopping displays, authentic recreations and picturesque riverside cafe makes it a great day out for the whole family.

Opening Times

The Lakeland Motor Museum is open every day from 9.30 am until 5.30 pm, with last entry at 4:30 pm. The only day the museum is shut is Christmas Day.
